The historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Union City has been the home of Masquerade Theatre since the mid-1990’s. With the purchase of the Capitol, Masquerade Theatre has not only kept a historic Northwest Tennessee cinema treasure operational but has also positively impacted the lives of its cast members and audiences. Operating as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, the Theatre depends on grants and donations to pay for repairs and maintenance, and production costs such as set materials, costumes, scripts, and equipment.

Years of normal aging and water damage to the 97-year-old building require Masquerade Theatre to replace current seating with all new handicapped accessible seating, and repair the exterior brick and other structural elements. In honor of Masquerade Theatre’s 35th anniversary this year, a goal to raise $200,000 to cover these expenses and maintain its historic home has been set.
